The wishful thinking of a young high school student who dreamt of mowing lawns and remodeling houses for a living started with me (Rodney Havery) occasionally helping a buddy who owned a lawn business and pushing a lawn mower for a couple of friends. After high school, I tried a number of different jobs from construction, office jobs, food, and retail. All the while, my heart stayed with construction and landscaping. I began my actual mowing career in 2013 when I bought a small lawn business from a friend. What started as enough lawns to mow part time quickly turned into a half dozen employees and an expansion into the world of maintaining foreclosed houses for banks.
In August of 2018, my wife and I decided to start a new adventure and move to her home state of Oregon, so we sold the business and everything else, packed up our clothes and our cat and started driving. After arriving in Salem, OR, it took all of 2 months before I was able to buy a push mower, weed eater and blower, and I was back on my way to business ownership again. After a couple months of mowing on Saturdays, I was able to transition full time into mowing and landscaping. By March of 2019, I expanded into remodeling and flipping foreclosures. By summer of 2021, we had successfully built a full construction and landscaping company, redoing the landscaping of over a hundred homes, fully remodeling over 30 houses, building thousands of feet of fence, and of course, mowed a lot of lawns.
Having had two companies, lived on two different sides of the county, being blessed with our first child and a second on the way, and having a loving, adventurous and supportive wife, we decided to move one last time and plant some roots back home in Sebring. We landed back in Florida in August of 2021 and had a bit of a head start with building up our business again. We started doing small construction projects for friends and family and tried to keep that as the focus of the business for the time being. After running into some delays in getting a contractors license, we decided to get back to the basics and start the business where it had always started. Mowing. We have quickly grown and hope to continue to grow the lawn side of the business. We were also able to hire a previous employee and now a good family friend in Lee Miller to run the tree side of the business. With his many years of experience in trimming and removing trees, we now have another incredibly valuable service to offer homeowners as trees are such a huge piece of Florida landscapes. Lord willing, we should have the construction side of things up and running in the coming months. My dream 15 years ago was to have a one stop shop for homeowners needing anything and everything done to their home. While we still have a long way to go before we can offer any and all home services, we are getting closer and closer each year. Our hope is by the end of the year, homeowners will be able to call us for anything they need done for their landscape, but also home remodeling and new construction, roofing, fencing, concrete, and just about anything else. And there you have it, the beginning and middle of Havery Property Services. For now...
